Course Overview
This course will review various aspects of iron and manganese in drinking water – occurrence, aesthetic implications, chemistry, the impact on water quality and microbial activity.
Participants will learn iron and manganese removal technologies and their limitations, with a specific focus on iron and manganese sequestration advantages and disadvantages
By the end of this session, participants will have gained an understanding of:
• Explain the occurrence of Iron (Fe) and Manganese (Mn) in source water, its chemistry and its implications
• Identify the various removal and control strategies with some case studies
• Calculate the oxidant requirement for Fe and Mn removal
• Perform testing for Fe and Mn using standard methods
