WHAT: Summer at the Centre 2012
Summer at the Centre 2012 is a new high-quality training series offering strong hands-on components for drinking water owners and operators at the Walkerton Clean Water Centre. Upon registration, participants will be offered Walkerton tourism incentives so they can plan a summer vacation around their stay. Local Walkerton and area businesses are expected to benefit from the influx of travelers coming to the area for training.
Maintenancefest Walkerton will cap the Summer at the Centre hands-on training series at the Centre’s headquarters on August 28 & 29, 2012. Drinking water operators and/or mechanics will choose six out of eleven hands-on training modules, which will be delivered by course instructors. Maintenancefest Walkerton will feature delicious local fare and exciting entertainment! Book now, space is limited: wcwc.ca/summer.

WHO: Walkerton Clean Water Centre (the Centre)
The Walkerton Clean Water Centre, an agency of the Government of Ontario, is committed to the mission, “We safeguard drinking water for the people of Ontario as the leading centre for high quality training, applied research and technology demonstration.” Following the water tragedy in Walkerton in 2000, and the inquiry by Associate Chief Justice Dennis O’Connor, the Centre was established in 2004. Operator training is guided by the WCWC Training Advisory Committee. In peak weeks, the Centre trains over 300 drinking water operators across the province. The research program, guided by the WCWC Research Advisory Committee, is focused on robust solutions for small drinking water systems. The Centre also supports technology companies with product assessments. The Centre’s headquarters in Walkerton is well equipped for hands-on training, research and innovation. The building is LEED Gold certified.
