Walkerton Clean Water Centre Hosts Students As They Learn About Careers In Drinking Water And The Environment
The Walkerton Clean Water Centre (WCWC) recently had the opportunity to host 75 students from John Diefenbaker Senior School in Hanover, Ontario.
As part of a WaterWORKS event organized by the Sustainability Project, high school students spent the morning of October 24 at WCWC to learn about careers in the water industry and tour the Technology Demonstration Facility. Students also had the chance to perform tests for water turbidity to get a feel for some of the work done by water system operators. Presentations by the Sustainability Project on the Walkerton water crisis, circular economy, water conservation and stormwater management completed the morning.
WCWC is excited to see youth interested in careers related to drinking water and the environment and welcomes visitors of all ages. Tours can be customized to complement the Ontario curriculum and include hands-on or classroom-based activities.
