WCWC hosts exchange student from Mexico
The Walkerton Clean Water Centre (WCWC) had the pleasure of hosting Denisse Arévalo Inman, a Rotary exchange student from Mexico who participated in our 3-day Operation of Conventional Treatment Processes course.
Denisse took Environmental Engineering from the Universidad Autónoma De Chihuahua and is here in Canada until January for an exchange. She has hopes to complete her Master’s Degree in Canada in water conservation, water preservation & the prevention of water pollution. She has a passion to preserve the environment, and hopes to continue to work on sustainable projects about water conservation and sustainability.
Denisse is from the region of Chihuahua which is a cold desert area of Mexico with not a lot of water. She would like to use her education and experiences to make a difference in the area there with a plan of moving water from the south to the north.
Denisse says she has enjoyed her time here at WCWC, it has been beneficial for her curriculum and she has learned a lot as well as met some kind Canadians!
Background: The Walkerton Clean Water Centre is an agency of the Government of Ontario, established in 2004, to ensure clean and safe drinking water for the entire province. WCWC coordinates and provides education, training and information to drinking water system owners, operators and operating authorities, and the public, in order to safeguard Ontario’s drinking water. Through partnerships, WCWC also provides training for the 133 First Nations communities in Ontario. To date, high-quality training has been provided to more than 72,000 participants across Ontario.
