Annual Report 2025-26

Over the fiscal year, WCWC offered a variety of high-quality courses and delivered training to 7,888 participants across Ontario.

[Walkerton, ON] —The Walkerton Clean Water Centre (WCWC) is pleased to release its 2025-26 Annual Report, now available through the WCWC Governance Documents webpage.

The annual report highlights WCWC’s continued commitment to supporting clean, safe drinking water across Ontario through education, technical applications, resources, and advisory support. During the 2025-26 fiscal year, WCWC delivered mandatory and specialized training to 7,888 participants through classroom, correspondence, e-learning, and live virtual formats, helping improve access to affordable, high-quality training for water professionals across the province. Since its inception, WCWC has provided training to more than 133,000 participants.

Support for First Nations communities remained a key priority. WCWC delivered First Nations-specific training programs, including Entry-Level Course for Drinking Water Operators for First Nations, Managing Drinking Water Systems in First Nations Communities, and 52 specialized course sessions. WCWC also developed three new courses to meet the evolving needs of First Nations operators and launched a new program, in partnership with the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, to provide on-site technical and training services tailored to system-specific operations.

WCWC continued to expand its practical, hands-on learning opportunities. During the fiscal year, WCWC launched four new or refreshed hands-on courses and two new or refreshed Maintenancefest modules, delivering 27 sessions across Ontario. In addition, WCWC developed three new e-learning courses to provide greater flexibility and accessibility for operators, particularly those in smaller or remote communities.

WCWC’s Technology Demonstration Facility remained an important resource for the drinking water sector, supporting applied research and pilot testing to help clients address site-specific challenges, emerging contaminants, and system vulnerabilities. During the year, WCWC completed seven pilot projects, with five additional projects still underway, and technical tours provided learning opportunities for 213 individuals, including operators, industry representatives, and students.

WCWC’s commitment to training excellence remained strong, achieving a quality assurance index of 0.956, indicating that 95.6 percent of survey respondents rated their training experience as good or excellent.
