Operation of Small Systems for Trained Persons (O. Reg. 170/03)

Course Description

This course is intended to familiarize participants with the basic concepts related to the operation and maintenance of small drinking water systems. The information covered in this course refers to the most common techniques used in Ontario.

Participants will review drinking water regulations, discuss sources, contamination and chemical characteristics of drinking water. Students will also learn to identify well and surface water equipment considerations. General requirements and troubleshooting techniques for water treatment and disinfection equipment will be discussed. Instruction will include how to respond to adverse test results and identifying safety considerations for small drinking water system operations.

Please note: This is a hybrid course. Participants must complete a self-directed e-learning component and attend a half day instructor-led online session to be awarded a certificate of completion.

Target Audience

Individuals seeking “Trained Person” status under O. Reg. 170/03 are required to successfully complete this course.
