Small System Fundamentals (O. Reg. 170/03) – CEU: 0.7

Course Overview

This course is designed for operators of small systems under O. Reg. 170/03. Instruction will include a review the characteristics of source waters, primary and secondary disinfection and challenges associated with treatment equipment commonly used in small systems.

Participants will learn how to conduct monitoring and operational checks, and the process for responding to potential Adverse Water Quality Incidents (AWQIs).

Attendees will have an opportunity to participate in hands-on activities related to equipment maintenance, operational checks and AWQI follow-ups.

• Water treatment in small systems
• Troubleshooting and maintenance
• Monitoring and operational checks
• Adverse test results, observations, reporting and corrective action

Target Audience

This course is designed for owners and operators of small non-municipal drinking water systems as defined under O. Reg. 170/03. This course meets the requirements for maintaining Trained Person certification and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for Limited System operators. This course replaces the Practical Training for Small Drinking Water System Owners and Operators course.
